Vehicle Management
All your vehicle details, insurance policies, and renewal reminders — in one place. Never miss an insurance renewal or annual inspection again.
What is it?
The vehicles module lets you register every vehicle in the household, manage multiple insurance policies per vehicle, and add free-form notes (services, issues, mileage, etc.). A reminder system is built in for insurance renewal.
How to use it
- 1
Open the tab
Go to /me and select the "Vehicles" tab.
- 2
Add a vehicle
Enter the licence plate number — the system will search and fetch vehicle details (type, model, year). Confirm to add.
- 3
Add a nickname
Give the vehicle a short nickname for easy identification (e.g. "My Suzuki", "Mum's car").
- 4
Add an insurance policy
Click "Add insurance" and fill in insurer name, policy type (third party / comprehensive), expiry date, price, and number of instalments.
- 5
Set a reminder
Toggle "Reminder" on a policy to receive an alert before the insurance expires.
- 6
Add notes
Add free-form notes: current mileage, service history, known issues, next inspection date.
Insurance management logic
Each vehicle can have multiple policies — for example: third-party + comprehensive + executive insurance. All are managed separately.
Setting a price and number of instalments per policy lets the system calculate the real monthly insurance cost and include it in your monthly expense budget.
Reminders appear in the household calendar — so everyone in the home sees that insurance is about to expire, not just the person who set it.
What to put in notes
- Mileage at last service + date.
- Date of next annual inspection (test)
- Recurring faults a mechanic should know about.
- Leasing company details if the vehicle is leased.
- Regular garage phone number.
Tips
- Add all household vehicles — even an older car sitting in the driveway — so you don't miss any insurance or inspection.
- Upload the new policy immediately after renewal — so expiry dates are always up to date.
- Use notes as a vehicle log — very handy when selling or transferring a vehicle.
